Gandola, boxcar, and caboose in Sonoma County

The REGRS is a loosely knit club of enthusiasts from areas north of the famous San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge who share an interest in model trains. Our members are primarily located in Sonoma County and Marin County.

We work in several scales of model railroading, including 1:32, 1:29, 1:24, 1:22.5, and 1:20.3, all of which run on Large Scale or G-Scale (also called Garden Scale) track, which is 1 3/4 inches (45 mm) between the rails. Our locomotive engines and train cars are generally a foot or more long each.

Our railroad layouts are outdoors and we landscape them with real, living miniature plants and model buildings and people.

Building the layout and tending to the gardening is almost as much fun as running the trains.

Tunnel with cowboy on horseback and bears in Sonoma County

Volunteers from our club organize exhibits at events like the Home and Garden Show at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds, and operate G-Scale model train layouts in museums, the Santa Rosa Main Post Office, and stores that are open to the public.

We publish a monthly newsletter for members, and every month from March through November we get together at a member's house to socialize and run trains. Newcomers to the hobby of Garden Railroading receive guidance and help from expert modelers and miniature plant gardeners.

You don't need a large-scale garden railroad of your own to be a member of REGRS -- and if you wish to host a garden railroading event at your home, our members will bring all the track and trains required!

Come aboard and join us!
